How to Save a Web Page as PDF in Chrome, Edge, Safari and Firefox
Online receipts, booking confirmations, articles you want to read offline, a page you need to keep as proof: saving a web page as a PDF is a handy skill. Every major browser can do it without extensions.
Chrome and Edge (Windows, Mac, Linux)
- Open the page and press Ctrl+P (Cmd+P on Mac).
- Under Destination (Chrome) or Printer (Edge), choose Save as PDF.
- Optionally adjust pages, layout (portrait or landscape) and, under More settings, margins, scale and "Background graphics".
- Click Save and choose a location.
Safari (Mac)
Choose File → Export as PDF. Alternatively, use File → Print, then the PDF menu in the lower-left corner and Save as PDF, which gives more layout options.
Firefox
Press Ctrl+P (Cmd+P on Mac) and choose Save to PDF as the destination, then click Save.
On iPhone and iPad
In Safari, tap the share button and choose Print. In the print preview, spread two fingers apart on the page preview (zoom gesture); it opens as a PDF. Tap the share button again and choose Save to Files. In some versions you can also take a screenshot, choose Full Page, and save it as PDF.
On Android
In Chrome, tap the menu (⋮), choose Share or Print, then select Save as PDF as the printer and tap the PDF download button.
Getting a cleaner PDF
- Use reader mode (available in Safari, Edge and Firefox) before printing an article to remove menus and ads.
- Turn on "Background graphics" if colors or images are missing from a receipt.
- Try landscape for wide tables that get cut off.
- Reduce the scale (for example to 80%) to fit more content on each page.
- Print only the pages you need by entering a page range.
After saving
Saved several receipts? Combine them into one file with Merge PDF. Got extra empty pages at the end? Remove them with Split PDF.
Text or image?
Printing to PDF usually keeps text as real, searchable text. A full-page screenshot, on the other hand, is an image. If you need to copy text later, prefer the print method.
Summary
Press Ctrl+P (or Cmd+P), choose "Save as PDF" and save. Use reader mode and the layout options for a cleaner result, and merge or trim the files afterwards if needed.
