About PDFToolkitX

PDFToolkitX is a free collection of PDF tools that run directly in your web browser. It is built and maintained by Soufiane, an independent web developer who focuses on practical, privacy-friendly web tools.

Why this site exists

Most people only need a handful of PDF tasks: joining files, removing a page, fixing a sideways scan, or turning photos into a PDF for an application. Many websites that offer these tasks ask you to upload your documents to their servers, create an account, or wait in a queue.

Today's browsers are powerful enough to do this work themselves. PDFToolkitX takes advantage of that: the tools load into your browser and process your files on your own device. Your documents do not need to travel anywhere.

How the tools work

The site uses well-established open-source libraries:

• PDF.js, developed by Mozilla, to read PDF files and draw their pages.
• pdf-lib, to create new PDFs and to copy, rotate and combine pages.
• JSZip, to package several output files into a single download.

These libraries are hosted on our own server together with the site, and they run in your browser. No file you select is sent to us.

What PDFToolkitX does not do

We prefer to be clear about limits. The tools do not edit the text inside a PDF, do not recognize text in scanned images (OCR), and cannot open password-protected files. For those tasks you will need dedicated software. Our guides explain what to do in these situations.

How the site is funded

The tools are free and will stay free. To cover hosting and development costs, the site may display advertising provided by Google. Ads never have access to your files, which are processed only in your browser. You can read more in our Privacy Policy.
