How to Convert JPG to PDF and Combine Several Photos Into One PDF
Upload forms, landlords, universities and employers often ask for documents as PDF, but what you have are photos. Converting JPG images to PDF takes less than a minute and can put several photos into one tidy document.
Convert JPG to PDF step by step
- Open Image to PDF.
- Click Choose images and select one or more JPG files. You can add more later.
- Put the images in order with the ← and → buttons. Each image becomes one page.
- Choose a page size: A4 (most countries) or US Letter (USA and Canada). Choose Same as image if the PDF will only be viewed on screen.
- Choose a margin and click Create PDF.
If you converted a single photo, the PDF gets the same name as the photo. Several photos are saved as images.pdf.
Is quality lost?
No. JPG images are placed in the PDF without being compressed again, so they look exactly like the originals. The PDF will be roughly as large as the images combined.
Choosing the page size
| Page size | Use it when |
|---|---|
| A4 | The document may be printed, or the recipient is outside North America |
| US Letter | The recipient is in the USA or Canada |
| Same as image | Screenshots, designs or anything only viewed on screen |
With A4 and Letter, wide photos automatically get a landscape page so they are not shrunk.
Making the PDF smaller
Phone photos are often 3–6 MB each, so five photos can easily exceed an upload limit. Before converting, resize the photos to about 1500–2000 pixels on the longest side, or choose a smaller size when your phone offers one while sharing. Our article on reducing PDF size has more ideas.
Tips for photos of documents
- Crop away the table and background before converting.
- Take photos in daylight and avoid flash on glossy paper.
- Make sure the text is readable when you zoom in.
